The Magic have exercised their 2027/28 rookie scale team options on forward Tristan Da Silva and guard Jase Richardson, reports Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link). The team confirmed the news in a press release (Twitter link).
Da Silva and Richardson already had guaranteed contracts for the upcoming season; now their deals are guaranteed through the next two years. Da Silva’s fourth-year rookie scale option for ’27/28 is worth roughly $6.14MM, while Richardson’s third-year option comes in around $3.28MM.
Da Silva, 25, has been a regular rotation player for the Magic since being drafted 18th overall in 2024. The German has started 72 of his 151 regular season games, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 23.4 minutes per night, with a .433/.357/.880 shooting line.
Richardson, meanwhile, was the 25th overall pick out of Michigan State in 2025 and made 54 appearances off the bench as a rookie, averaging 4.4 PPG, 1.2 RPG, and 1.1 APG. The second-year guard, who just turned 21 last Friday, has earned praise from teammates and head coach Sean Sweeney for the growth he showed during the preseason and could earn a bigger role in his second year.
Da Silva will now become eligible for a rookie scale extension in 2027 and would be a restricted free agent in 2028 if he doesn’t sign a new contract before then. Richardson’s contract includes a fourth-year option worth $5.91MM for the 2028/29 season, which Orlando will have to exercise by November 1, 2027.
We’re tracking all of the 2027/28 rookie scale option decisions right here. While they aren’t due until Nov. 2, a number of teams around the league are getting them out of the way before they play their first game of the season.
