In his first public comments since he agreed to sign with the Knicks, veteran center Andre Drummond said he’s excited to join the defending champions (Twitter video link via Mika Ortiz).
“Mitchell Robinson was a huge loss for them,” said Drummond, a New York native. “I bring in a similar talent, similar energy, but I’m a veteran, I’ve been around for a long time. I know what it takes to win. Excited to be in a new role in a new city and going back to a place I’m familiar with.”
Here’s more on the Knicks:
- The play of Mohamed Diawara is one of the main storylines Zach Braziller of The New York Post will be monitoring for summer league action. Diawara, a 2025 second-round pick, reportedly agreed to a four-year, $10MM+ contract to re-sign with New York. Fellow French wing Pacome Dadiet, a potential trade candidate due to the Knicks’ financial situation, is another player to keep an eye on, as he has a chance to boost his standing around the league this summer, Braziller adds.
- In a subscriber-only story for The New York Post, Stefan Bondy considers whether Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and/or Miles McBride might sign extensions either this offseason or during the 2026/27 campaign. He speculates that Towns and particularly Hart are likely to sign new deals with the Knicks at some point, but views a McBride extension as unlikely, as he could command more money on the open market in 2027 free agency than the team may be willing to offer due to future cap concerns.
- Knicks owner James Dolan is stepping back from his role with the NHL’s New York Rangers, but the transition won’t impact management of the Knicks, reports Mollie Parker of The New York Post. Dolan’s son, Quentin Dolan, will be handling the day-to-day ownership responsibilities with the Rangers.
