Former NBA forward Kevin Knox has officially signed a rest-of-season contract with Unicaja Malaga, according to a press release from the Spanish club.
Knox’s deal with Malaga is pending a physical, per the team.
This is the first international stop for Knox, who was selected ninth overall in the 2018 draft after one year of college basketball at Kentucky. He was waived by the Magic a couple weeks ago after spending training camp and the preseason with Orlando.
Reporting from Eurohoops the day after he was cut indicated Knox was in contract negotiations with Malaga, and now a deal has come to fruition.
Knox is a seven-year NBA veteran who has averaged 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds on .393/.340/.723 shooting in 320 appearances (17.5 minutes per game) with the Knicks, Hawks, Pistons (two different stints), Trail Blazers and Warriors. His last NBA stint came with Golden State during the 2024/25 campaign, when he signed a pair of 10-day contracts and then a rest-of-season deal with the Warriors.
Still just 27 years old, Knox spent all of last season in the G League with the Windy City Bulls. In 39 games, the 6’8″ combo forward averaged 21.4 PPG and 7.7 RPG on .464/.414/.836 shooting in 32.4 MPG.
Unicaja has battled injuries this fall, including losing Tyson Perez to a torn Achilles tendon. The Malaga-based team competes in Spain’s top domestic league (Liga ACB) as well as the Basketball Champions League (BCL).
