World No. 4 and top-ranked American Jessica Pegula will return to the Credit One Charleston Open in 2027, chasing a third straight title on Daniel Island.

In 2026, Pegula won her second consecutive Charleston title, becoming the first player to defend the crown since Serena Williams in 2012-13. She also claimed her fourth WTA 1000 title in Dubai, reached the semifinals at the Australian Open and US Open, and qualified for the WTA Finals for the fifth year in a row.
She is currently 50-14 in 2026 and ranked one spot off her career-high ranking, at No. 4.
“We are incredibly proud to welcome Jessie Pegula back to Charleston as our back-to-back champion,” said Bob Moran, President of Beemok Sports & Entertainment, in a statement. “Jess is playing the best tennis of her career, and what makes us even prouder is the impact she’s having on the game. As a member of the tournament council, she is helping drive meaningful change for women’s tennis. We look forward to watching her go for the three-peat on Daniel Island.”
Pegula will make her ninth appearance on the green clay in Charleston and owns a 21-6 lifetime record at the event. The Buffalo, N.Y., native is 16-2 in Charleston since the start of 2023 and rides a 10-match winning streak into the 2027 event.
“Charleston just feels like home to me,” 32-year-old Pegula said in a statement. “Winning the Credit One Charleston Open back-to-back was such a great feeling, so of course now I want to go for the three-peat in 2027. I love playing in the Lowcountry and the crowds there bring so much energy. I always seem to end up in some big matches in Charleston and I can’t wait to be back to play in front of the fans again.”
