The Jazz announced Monday in a press release that they have signed free agent guard Matthew Murrell, who spent last season with their G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.

Murrell almost certainly signed an Exhibit 10 deal ahead of training camp. If he’s waived before 2026/27 begins and spends at least 60 days with the Stars again this season, he could earn a bonus worth up to $91K in addition to his normal NBAGL salary.

A 6’3″ combo guard who’s known for his defense and athleticism, Murrell went undrafted in 2025 after spending for seasons at Ole Miss. He helped the Rebels reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament in 2024/25.

Murrell had an up-and-down first professional season with the Stars after signing an Exhibit 10 contract with Utah and subsequently being waived by the Jazz last fall. In 43 combined G League appearances (28.0 minutes per game), the 24-year-old averaged 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals on .387/.309/.735 shooting splits.
