The Jazz have put out a press release announcing that they’ve waived center Jonas Aidoo and guard Tamar Bates.
Aidoo had been on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract, while Bates was on a two-way deal. Utah has filled that newly opened two-way slot by converting Harrison Ingram’s Exhibit 10 deal to a two-way contract, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Following the series of roster moves, the Jazz have 14 players on standard contracts – including 13 with fully guaranteed salaries – and three on two-way deals. Their roster is ready for the regular season, though they could still make last-minute tweaks up until Monday’s deadline if they so choose.
Ingram, the 48th overall pick in the 2024 draft, spent his first two professional seasons on two-way contracts with the Spurs. However, the 23-year-old barely played at the NBA level, logging just 61 total minutes in 12 regular season games for San Antonio. He wasn’t playoff-eligible during the club’s run to the NBA Finals this past spring.
Ingram played more extensively in the G League, averaging 16.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in 34.0 minutes game in 40 appearances for Austin last season. He impressed the Jazz this preseason by compiling 19 points and nine rebounds in 30 minutes of action across four contests, earning himself a promotion to a two-way deal.
Bates signed a two-year, two-way contract with Utah in July but struggled in three preseason games, scoring just three points on 1-of-8 shooting in 34 minutes.
Aidoo, meanwhile, appears ticketed for the Salt Lake City Stars in the G League after Utah’s affiliate acquired his returning rights in an August trade. He’ll earn a $91K bonus as long as he spends at least 60 days in the NBAGL.
