Free agent guard Jaylen Nowell is headed to Turkey, having signed a contract with Besiktas (Twitter link via the team).
A six-year NBA veteran, spent part of the 2024/25 season with the Pelicans and Wizards, appearing in eight games with New Orleans. He spent the bulk of that campaign in the G League with Washington’s affiliate team, the Capital City Go-Go.
Nowell spent his first four years with Minnesota, the team that drafted him No. 43 overall in 2019. He spent last season in Puerto Rico and China.
Here are a few more overseas signings of ex-NBA players:
- While he only made one NBA appearance with Milwaukee in 2020/21, Elijah Bryant has become a star in Europe, making the All-EuroLeague First Team in 2025/26 and finishing third in MVP voting after averaging 15.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 3.4 APG on .544/.387/.893 shooting in 34 EuroLeague games (29.6 MPG) with Hapoel Tel Aviv. The 31-year-old wing has signed a three-year extension to stay in Israel, the team announced in a press release.
- Hapoel Tel Aviv has also signed former second-round pick Daniel Oturu to a three-year extension, per a team announcement. The ex-Clippers and Raptors big man averaged 13.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG and 1.3 BPG while shooting 71.1% from the field in 38 EuroLeague games (23.3 MPG) last season. Former NBA forward Ish Wainright, meanwhile, received a two-year extension from the Israeli club.
- Mike James, the EuroLeague’s all-time leading scorer, has signed a one-plus-one contract with Turkish powerhouse Anadolu Efes, the team confirmed (via Twitter). James, a 6’1″ point guard who turns 36 next month, has spent the past five years with AS Monaco. The American guard was named EuroLeague MVP in 2023/24.
