Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren left his team’s practice on Wednesday, Aug. 19, early because of a groin injury.
Warren’s injury occurred while he was running a route early in practice, according to the Indianapolis Star – part of the USA TODAY Network.

Warren got up slowly after his slip and walked to the sideline to seek medical attention from a trainer. He received treatment in the medical tent and emerged from it with a wrap over his right thigh.
Warren did not return to practice but did watch the remainder of it while standing on the sideline.

Warren is dealing with a “mild groin strain,” according to the Indianapolis Star.
The second-year tight end is expected to miss about a week of action because of the injury, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

“No worries for Week 1,” Rapoport wrote in a social media post about Warren’s injury.
Mo Alie-Cox is currently listed as the backup to Warren on the Colts’ depth chart. The 32-year-old veteran has made 127 catches for 1,550 yards and 16 touchdowns across eight NFL seasons.
Alie-Cox originally signed with the Colts in 2017. At the time of his signing, Alie-Cox hadn’t played organized football since his freshman year of high school. The 6-5, 267-pounder played college basketball at VCU, helping lead the Rams to their first-ever Atlantic 10 championship.

Warren enjoyed a terrific rookie season for the Colts, generating 76 catches for 817 yards and four touchdowns while appearing in all 17 of Indianapolis’ games.
