A former athletic trainer with the Kings has filed a lawsuit against both the Kings and the senior director of athletic health, Jaspreet Randhawa, alleging pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, Michael Rothstein reports for ESPN.

The trainer, Crystal Lee, was with the team from 2022 to 2025. She claims that she received a job demotion in April 2023 from assistant athletic trainer to “administrator, health & performance/assistant athletic trainer” while pregnant, and, despite assuring her the move was temporary, they hired another full-time assistant athletic trainer ahead of the 2023/24 season She also claims that when she returned from maternity leave, her duties were much diminished, as she was not allowed to travel with the team in February of 2023 or, eventually, work on the players.

She claims that Randhawa told her, “You’re f—ed,” and that her life “is ruined after you have kids” when she told him of her pregnancy. She alleges that another staffer told her in 2024 that when asked why her responsibilities were being curtailed, Randhawa responded, “it’s the baby, bro.”

The suit claims that Lee met with Kings’ general manager, Scott Perry, in May of 2025 to discuss the issue and was told, “complainers will not be tolerated.” She was fired a month later.

She also alleges sexual harassment from head coach Doug Christie and Cameron Brown, son of former head coach Mike Brown. She accused Christie, an assistant at the time, of repeatedly checking her out while saying, “don’t report me to HR” while Brown allegedly hounded her to spend time with him outside of work despite her repeated rejections.

“The Sacramento Kings categorically deny these allegations and reject the characterization of the organization and its workplace reflected in these claims made by a disgruntled former employee,” reads the statement from team attorney, Alexis Gabrielson. “The Kings take allegations of discrimination and harassment seriously and are committed to maintaining a workplace where all employees are treated with dignity and respect. The organization intends to vigorously defend against these claims through the legal process and will not comment further on the pending proceedings.”

According to sources near the team, Lee never reported said sexual advances during her tenure with the team, Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee reports. He also cites sources who claim Lee asked for a role change, which included the same compensation despite having different responsibilities.

Perry, Randhawa, and Christie are not listed as defendants in the lawsuit.
