Free agent wing Justin Minaya is close to signing with Spanish power FC Barcelona, according to Esports RAC1 (Twitter link; hat tip to Eurohoops.net).

A 6’5″ small forward, Minaya is a three-year NBA veteran, having averaged 1.7 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game across 57 career appearances with Portland. He initially signed a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers in April 2023 and spent the 2023/24 and ’24/25 campaigns on two-way deals with the team.

Minaya caught on with the Magic last fall, signing an Exhibit 10 deal for training camp. He was waived before 2025/26 began and spent last season in the G League with the Osceola Magic.

Known more for his defense than his offense, Minaya averaged 9.1 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.5 SPG and 0.9 BPG on .443/.282/.622 shooting splits in 45 games with Osceola. The 27-year-old plays for the Dominican Republic in international competitions.

Barcelona posted solid regular season records in the EuroLeague (21-17) and Liga ACB (24-10) in 2025/26 and advanced to the finals in Spain’s top league. However, the team fell to Valencia Basket for the domestic championship and was eliminated in the EuroLeague’s play-in tournament, missing the playoffs altogether.

Barça’s roster features several former NBA players, including Tosan Evbuomwan and Tyrese Martin, who both finished last season in the league (with the Hornets and Sixers, respectively).
