The Miami Dolphins fell to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, moving to 0-3 on the season. Achane suffered a knee injury in the first quarter; after the game, head coach Jeff Hafley indicated they are not “optimistic” about the injury.
The Dolphins, the league’s youngest team, are showing signs of growth and development. They stood toe-to-toe with the Chiefs on Sunday and, despite the 24-10 final score, they kept the game close for much of the day. There will still be growing pains and rookie mistakes for the Dolphins, but on Sunday, they at least showed some of the growth that is really the goal of this season.

The Dolphins now face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, and oddsmakers do not see Miami having much of a chance. While the line is better than the 10.5-point line for the team against Kansas City, the FanDuel Sportsbook odds opened with the Dolphins a 9.5-point underdog versus the Vikings. The potential loss of Achane, the focal point for Miami’s offense, plays a large role in Miami’s chances in this game and the line clearly reflects that.

Minnesota moved to 3-0 this season with a 23-16 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. They started the year with a 39-22 win over the Green Bay Packers, then made it two straight victories over division rivals with a 9-3 victory at the Chicago Bears. After Sunday’s game at the Buccaneers, they will host the Dolphins in Week 4.
