The Cavaliers, Nuggets, and Pistons have all waived the players who had been on Exhibit 10 contracts, according to NBA.com’s transaction log.
Since each of those players was cut on Saturday, they’ll clear waivers on Monday, before the regular season begins, meaning Cleveland, Denver, and Detroit won’t be on the hook for any dead money.
Here are the players who were waived today by those three teams:
Cleveland Cavaliers:
As a result of today’s moves, the Cavs are now carrying 14 players on standard contracts (12 fully guaranteed) and three on two-way deals, so their roster is ready for the regular season. Cleveland doesn’t have enough room below its hard cap at the first tax apron to carry a 15th player on a standard deal.
Denver Nuggets:
Like Cleveland, Denver now has 14 players on standard contracts and three on two-way deals, complying with the regular season roster limit. While the Nuggets technically have the ability to carry a 15th man, they’re far above the luxury tax line and are the only team operating over the second apron, so they’ll be in no rush to fill that opening.
Detroit Pistons:
The Pistons now have a full 15-man standard roster along with three players on two-way contracts, so they’re set for the regular season.
Most – or all – of the players waived today by the Cavs, Nuggets, and Pistons are expected to end up with their respective teams’ G League affiliates.
