Wow. How things change. And quickly, right? Four days ago, QB Jacoby Brissett was warming up on the field at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Today, he is a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort had traded Brissett to the Ravens. Baltimore’s starting QB, Lamar Jackson, and his backup, Tyler Huntley, are both injured and landed on IR. The Ravens had undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, and UFL quarterback Austin Reed remaining.

Brissett was pulled early in the second half of the 33-30 win over the Cowboys, and his backup, veteran Gardner Minshew, was inserted. Suddenly, the offense came alive after Dallas had dominated for two quarters. Minshew orchestrated a late drive in regulation to tie the game, then led the game-winning drive in overtime that ended with a 42-yard Chad Ryland field goal for the win.
The very next day, it was announced by Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur that Minshew would be the starting quarterback this week against the Seattle Seahawks, and his backup would become rookie Carson Beck. This meant that Brissett had gone from starter to QB3 in less than 24 hours.

Brissett was mentioned as trade bait by several media outlets and Cardinals podcasts. That became true in a very short timespan.
The details of the trade have not been released since the deal is not complete.
It is assumed that Brissett would not dress or start at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The game is tomorrow night on Thursday Night Football, broadcast on Prime. The deal is announced as still pending, but will be finalized this weekend. He is a seasoned veteran with a low salary and should become a very good rental for the Ravens for the remainder of the season. Currently, Baltimore is 4-4-0 and listed last in the division.
Brissett is heading back to a division he is quite familiar with, the AFC North. He played for the Cleveland Browns in 2022 and played the first 11 games while QB Deshaun Watson was on league suspension.
