The Bills have their bye in Week 7, but when they come back, they will not have one of their key defenders.
The NFL announced on Monday that safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson has been suspended one game for spitting at an opponent during Sunday’s win over the Raiders.

Gardner-Johnson was ejected from the contest.
The league notes Gardner-Johnson was suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct, with his actions violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to “any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship.”
Gardner-Johnson is in his first season with the Bills. He has registered 26 total tackles with two passes defensed and one interception so far this season.
Bills head coach Joe Brady called Gardner-Johnson’s actions “uncalled for” in his postgame press conference.
“It can’t happen,” Brady said. “It’s going to be addressed. The team is way more important.”

Buffalo will host Baltimore in Week 8. While Garner-Johnson may appeal his suspension, he’s currently eligible to return for the Bills’ Week 9 road matchup against the Vikings on Monday Night Football.
