New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 1 with an ankle injury.
Brown originally suffered the injury on the Patriots opening drive of the third quarter when a Seahawks defender landed on his ankle following a low incompletion on third-down. After acquiring medical attention on the field, Brown slowly walked off with trainers.

The 29-year old spent time in the blue medical tent before departing to the locker room and undergoing X-rays. Brown was originally listed as questionable to return before being downgraded to out.
The receiver was off the a good start in his Patriots debut, recording three catches (two first downs) for 26 yards in the first-half. His biggest contribution was not seen in the stat sheet, as a drawn defensive pass interference near the goal line set up the Patriot first touchdown of the game.
Opening the regular season on Wednesday night, the Patriots will have four extra days of rest and preparation ahead of Week 2. Brown’s availability will be a top storyline to monitor.
