Texas football is playing a must-win game against Mississippi, and likely will have to do it with one of the best linemen in the country.
Offensive tackle Trevor Goosby went down with what looked like a significant injury in the Week 8 game on Saturday, Oct. 24, creating a hole in the Longhorn offensive line.

The injury happened with five minutes left in the first quarter. It’s not known exactly what happened, but after Arch Manning completed a pass to Derrek Cooper, Goosby was down on the turf in noticeable pain.
He was tended to by medical personnel as coach Stever Sarkisian went to check in on his player. Eventually, the cart came out to take Goosby off the field as he appeared to be holding his left arm and shoulder as he was loaded on.
Goosby’s specific injury hasn’t been revealed, but it appears to be a significant left arm injury that likely takes him out of the remainder of the game against the Rebels.

It’s a big blow for Texas as Goosby is one of the best outside linemen in the country, a projected top-15 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft by USA TODAY Sports mock draft. With him out, it applies pressure to an offensive line that already will be trying to protect Manning and open up the run game to avoid a three-game losing streak.
The timing of the injury couldn’t be worse, as Texas is also out with its top defensive player Colin Simmons, another projected top NFL draft pick. The edge-rusher, who leads the nation in sacks and tackles for loss, suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter against Florida.
