The Hornets have officially completed a pair of minor roster moves, announcing (via Twitter) that they’ve signed forward Tre Carroll, waiving guard DJ Armstrong in the process in order to make room on their 21-man offseason roster for the newcomer.

Carroll, who spent his first three college seasons at Florida Atlantic from 2022-25, transferred to Xavier for his senior year and put up big numbers for the Musketeers in 2025/26. In 32 games (all starts), the 6’8″ forward averaged 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest and posted a shooting line of .501/.333/.709.

After earning AAC co-Most Improved Player honors as a junior, Carroll was named to the All-Big East first team as a senior and took part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in April. He went undrafted in June, then made two appearances for the Wizards’ Summer League team in Las Vegas in July.

Charlotte’s deal with Carroll, which almost certainly includes Exhibit 10 language, will likely line him up to become an affiliate player for the Hornets’ G League team. If he’s waived by Charlotte and then spends at least 60 days with the Greensboro Swarm, he’ll earn an Exhibit 10 bonus worth up to $91K.

The Hornets have been shuttling players on and off their roster in recent weeks with an eye toward filling out the Swarm’s roster. Since August 31, Josiah Allick, Trey Townsend, Kyle Mangas, Jarkel Joiner, Kobe Stewart, Bez Mbeng, and Armstrong have had brief stints under contract with Charlotte. Most or all of those players figure to join Carroll in camp with the Swarm later this fall.
