Former Nuggets forward Vlatko Cancar, who is now playing for Spain’s San Pablo Burgos, has suffered a meniscus tear that will require surgery, Eurohoops.net relays.

Cancar is expected to miss several months of action. His career has been sidetracked by numerous injuries suffered during his NBA career and afterward. Since October 2023, Cancar has appeared in just 21 games.

Čančar, who was on the Nuggets’ roster from 2019-25, returned to Europe prior to last season and signed with Armani Milan. However, a knee injury limited him to two games.

He  also suffered a leg and wrist fracture in 2022 and tore his ACL in August 2023 in an exhibition game prior to the FIBA World Cup. The ACL tear forced him to sit out the entire 2023/24 NBA season. He then underwent another procedure on the same knee in December 2024.

He played just 13 games for Denver the following year. His best NBA season came in 2022/23, when the 2017 draft-and-stash second-round pick appeared in 60 games, averaging 5.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 14.8 minutes per contest. Overall, he logged 143 NBA appearances, averaging 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 10.7 minutes per game.
