Free agent guard Joshua Primo, the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft, has signed with BC Parma, the Russian team announced in a press release. It’s a one-year deal that includes a second-year option.

Primo, 23, appeared in 50 games for the Spurs as a rookie back in 2021/22, averaging 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest.

However, just four games into his second NBA season, Primo was waived by San Antonio for engaging in “inappropriate and offensive behavior by exposing himself to women.” He was suspended four games by the NBA for his behavior, which allegedly included multiple incidents with a longtime sports psychologist who worked for the Spurs during his time with the organization.

After sitting out nearly the entire 2022/23 season, Primo spent most of ’23/24 with the Clippers, though he only appeared in two NBA games with the team. The 6’4″ Canadian subsequently joined the Bulls’ G League affiliate at the start of the ’24/25 season but didn’t play at all for Windy City before being cut in December 2024.

After not playing professionally last season, Primo – who is still just 23 years old – will join a BC Parma team based in Perm, Russia. Parma competes in the top domestic league (VTB United) and finished last season with a 22-18 record before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the playoffs by Lokomotiv Kuban.
