LeBron James is leaving his son behind as he continues his career in Philadelphia.

James announced he was joining the 76ers on Friday, writing on social media that this was his “last decision” as he enters Year 24 in the league.

Shortly after the announcement, agent Rich Paul told ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne that there are no plans for the 76ers to trade for James’s son Bronny, whose contract was guaranteed by the Lakers earlier in the off-season.

LeBron and Bronny made history as the first father-son teammates in NBA history when they played together on the Lakers during the 2024-25 season. Bronny, a guard, has appeared in 69 NBA games over the last two seasons, averaging eight minutes, 2.7 points and 1.1 assists.

“I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family,” LeBron James wrote of his decision to join the 76ers on social media. “What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning.”
