Hold the pina coladas for Alvin Kamara.
The five-time Pro Bowl running back and the New Orleans Saints agreed to a reworked contract on July 15, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
Thoughout the spring and summer, Kamara’s future with the franchise had remained murky, particularly after the Saints signed Travis Etienne Jr. to a four-year, $47.4 million contract in March.

Kamara had been set to carry a cap hit of more than $10.4 million. In 2025, he recorded career lows of 471 rushing yards, 3.6 yards per carry and 657 yards from scrimmage.
Kamara, who turns 31 on July 25, is the Saints’ all-time leading rusher with 7,250 yards in his career.
“It’s a business both ways: on the team side and on the player side,” Kamara told reporters in June. “I always try to tell young dudes, anybody, when they ask me about how I navigate some of this stuff, it’s like, man, ‘You got to treat it like a business, you know what I’m saying?’ So you don’t get caught off guard. So nothing catching me off guard, man.”

Despite the signing of Etienne, second-year Saints coach Kellen Moore said in June he believed Kamara – long regarded as one of the league’s most dynamic all-purpose threats – could “fit in really well from an offensive standpoint.”
Having played all nine years of his career in New Orleans, Kamara has made clear his intent not to play for any other team. Amid speculation he could be moved at last year’s trade deadline, he suggested that he would be inclined to opt for retirement rather than suit up for a different franchise.
“I just got to keep my head down,” Kamara said in October amid trade rumors. “And I don’t know, if I was a GM, I guess I would go to the player and be like, ‘Hey, we’re trading you. Just so you know.’ So, if (Saints general manager) Mickey (Loomis) come downstairs and says that, then I’m going to go drink a piña colada somewhere.”
Kamara joins edge rusher Cameron Jordan as the latest franchise cornerstone to re-up with New Orleans as the Saints try to make a worst-to-first turnaround this fall.
