International Notes: Craig, Lee, Valanciunas, Flynn, Simmons
After not catching on with an NBA team last summer or fall, veteran wing Torrey Craig opted to spend the second half of the 2025/26 season in Australia playing for the Sydney Kings. He played a key role for the Kings during their run to a National Basketball League championship and has now reached a deal to remain in Sydney for the ’26/27 season, reports Olgun Uluc of ESPN.
Craig appeared in 15 total regular season and playoff games for Sydney, averaging 12.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc and providing strong defense. The performance made him a hot commodity on the NBL free agent market, according to Uluc, who says the Adelaide 36ers also made a strong offer.
However, the Kings made a “full organization push” to re-sign Craig and he opted to stick with Sydney in the hopes of winning a second straight title with the team, says Uluc. Between NBL seasons, the 35-year-old Craig is playing in Puerto Rico for Mets de Guaynabo.
