The San Francisco 49ers personnel department has been busy as they deal with having 20 players currently injured. According to Wednesday’s transaction wire, the team worked out several players before they signed wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge.
The 49ers officially terminated a pair of vested veterans in Cam Sample and Kevin Givens. They were injured/waived.

Here is a list of players the 49ers worked out, not counting Hodge:
OG Braden Daniels
OT Ryan Mosesso
OG Kion Smith
WR Kristian Wilkerson
WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
The 49ers have been thin at wide receiver since the beginning of the week. Since the week began, offensive linemen Brett Toth had an undisclosed injury, while Carver Willis was in the concussion protocol.
We will find out if the team adds one of the linemen ahead of practice. Daniels was drafted in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Utah. He was placed on the IR in August during his rookie year with a torn rotator cuff. He’s been on multiple practice squads, but has never played a regular-season snap.

Mosesso was the starting right tackle for Massachusetts during the previous two seasons. The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder also has experience at guard and left tackle during his collegiate days.
Smith has been in the NFL since 2021. He has 201 total snaps across that time, with 137 coming last year with the Miami Dolphins. He’s 6’6″, 300 pounds. For what it’s worth, he was the Dolphins’ opening-day starter in 2025 at right guard.
Wilerson has been in the NFL since 2020. The 6’1″, 214-pound wide receiver was with the Raiders in 2023 and 2024. For his career, he has six receptions for 60 yards spread across four seasons.
Peoples-Jones is a name everyone likely knows. He was with the Browns from 2020 through 2023. In 2022, Peoples-Jones had an 839-yard season. For his career, he has 122 receptions for 1,895 yards. His problem was always drops and a lack of separation. It seemed like Peoples-Jones didn’t know the playbook either, constantly lining up in the wrong spot during his days with the Browns.
We’ll find out shortly if the 49ers add one of these players to the roster before Thursday’s practice.
