San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates after Thursday night’s preseason game:
CB Renardo Green (hamstring)
Austen Pleasants (knee)
Nick Martin (hamstring)
The 49ers will get further imaging on Green’s hamstring on Friday to see if he pulled it. That would be the worst-case scenario for an already thin cornerback room. Green likely got hurt trying to catch up with the speedy Breenan Thompson. Jack Jones would be the next cornerback up.

Shanahan had a wry smile when he said, “I think every time they went at Jack, he knocked the ball down.” Shanahan sounds like he has the utmost confidence in Jones to replace Green, if it gets there.
Shanahan said Pleasants doesn’t have an ACL injury. The team will learn more about his injury on Friday.
Shanahan said the left guard job is going to go down to the wire. He said, “Hopefully, we have some good news with him, and it’s not too much so he can stay in that battle,” about Pleasants. He played guard and tackle, which is the kind of versatility that would help Pleasants make the roster.
It’s a battle that Robert Jones won’t be a part of in the coming weeks. He has an undisclosed injury. Shanahan couldn’t remember what it was, but he did say Jones will possibly miss next week’s preseason finale.

Shanahan noted that the competition could “possibly” spill into the season, since not every player competing has had much time. Carver Willis missed the first two weeks, and now Jones is out: “Hopefully, one of those guys will separate themselves and make that a little easier for us. But Week 1 is just Week 1.”
There weren’t any specifics about the injury Patrick Taylor Jr. suffered. He was placed on the Injured Reserve Thursday afternoon. Shanahan said Taylor Jr. suffered an adductor injury in practice.
