The No. 1 goal of pre-season is to escape healthy.
The Washington Wizards are holding their breath on that.
Top pick AJ Dybantsa left Friday’s exhibition finale against the New Orleans Pelicans after twisting his left ankle in the second quarter.
Head coach Brian Keefe said post-game that Dybantsa suffered a sprain and would need to be re-evaluated to determine his status for the team’s home opener Wednesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Dybantsa, a BYU product, was selected first overall at the NBA Draft in June.
The 19-year-old played in four pre-season games, scoring between 11 and 14 points in each while adding 15 rebounds and seven assists.
He is expected to join veterans Anthony Davis and Trae Young on a potentially rejuvenated Wizards squad.
