Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu suffered a minor groin strain during a 24-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Commanders beat writer Ben Standig reported on Monday evening.
Citing sources, Standig characterized the strain as mild and that his availability for a Week 2 clash with the host Dallas Cowboys is to be determined.
Luvu played 29 snaps before suffering the injury, and was replaced by Leo Chenal. The veteran is a team captain and a green-dot-wearing defensive play caller.

Rookie Sonny Styles took over as the defensive field general in that game and would do so again if Luvu is unavailable.
Head coach Dan Quinn was asked for injury updates on Monday when he talked to reporters. He said the team would know more today, and would give any available updates at tomorrow’s presser, or when the team releases the first injury report of the week. TE Chig Okonkwo (hamstring), S Tyler Owens (ankle), and LB Jordan Magee (hamstring) also left Sunday’s game with injuries. Owens was injured when Jaylin Lane ran into him on a return, while Magee tweaked his hamstring chasing Jalen Hurts on a scramble.
The Commanders return to practice Wednesday afternoon and will provide some injury updates. Washington hosted seven players for tryouts today, and also brought in OL Lucas Patrick in for a free agent visit.
