Thomas Sorber had a minor arthroscopic procedure on his right knee on Wednesday in Los Angeles and is expected to return to on-court activity in around four weeks, the Thunder announced.
The 6’9″ center missed his rookie season with Oklahoma City due to a torn ACL in the same knee and will now be sidelined for 2026 Summer League as well. Prior to the ACL tear, which he suffered during an offseason workout last September, the 20-year-old big man missed the end of his lone collegiate season at Georgetown due to a left foot injury that required surgery.
Sorber was selected 15th overall in the 2025 draft despite the injury after showing off his defensive tools, play-making ability, and flashes of shooting upside. He averaged 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 steals, and 2.4 assists per game in college, displaying a versatile skill set that aligns with what the Thunder tend to value in their big men.
Oklahoma City agreed to sign Isaiah Hartenstein to a new deal this summer after drafting 7’3″ center Aday Mara in the lottery, making this an important offseason for Sorber as he tries to avoid becoming buried on a frontcourt depth chart that also includes Chet Holmgren and Jaylin Williams.
