His 2025: The Jets signed Hayes before the start of training camp. He was waived on cutdown day, but the Jets signed him to the practice squad after he cleared waivers. Hayes earned a call up to the active roster late in the season but was not activated for any games.

2026 will be a success if: Hayes makes the team and plays functional football if injuries force him onto the field. I think we are past the point where Hayes can be called a developmental player. He was drafted in 2022 and is now 27 years old. After four years he still has not been active for an NFL game. It seems likely the Jets will move on unless Hayes surprises in training camp and the exhibition season. I will, however, give him a small chance of making it. The coaching staff must see something at least on some level to have kept him on the practice squad for most of the year and then give him a spot on the active roster for the last ocuple of games.
