Projected Role: Rotational defensive lineman
His 2025: Onyemata once again gave the Falcons solid if unflashy play as an interior defensive lineman. He played the run well, and while he ended the season with only one sack he wasn’t a total black hole as a pass rusher. He showed the ability to chip in the occasional pressure.
2026 will be a success if: Onyemata gives the Jets around 20-30 quality snaps per game in a rotational role. We have a tendency to call the signing of any non-starter a “depth” move, but that isn’t always accurate. The goal of an actual depth signing is to find a player who can be counted on to provide quality snaps if either the starter needs a break, or injuries reshuffle the lineup. Age is always going to be a concern with a player who will turn 34 in season, but his track record suggests that Onyemata should be a quality depth lineman for the Jets.
Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
