The Suns signed free agent guard/forward Jordan Schakel on Wednesday, according to RealGM’s official log of NBA transactions, then waived him on Thursday, per NBA.com’s transactions log.
Keith Smith of Spotrac confirms (via Twitter) that Schakel signed an Exhibit 10 deal with Phoenix. He’s now eligible to earn a bonus worth up to $91K on top of his typical salary if he spends at least 60 days with the G League’s Valley Suns.
Schakel, who went undrafted out of San Diego State in 2021, made six total appearances with the Wizards from 2021-23 but has been out of the NBA each of the past three years. The 6’6″ wing spent last season in Germany with Niners Chemnitz and in Belgium with BC Oostende.
The Cavaliers have also waived guard Sean McNeil, who was recently signed to an Exhibit 10 contract. He’s now on track to earn a bonus for playing for the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate.
McNeil, who played for West Virginia and Ohio State prior to going undrafted in 2024, has spent the past two seasons playing for the Charge. He averaged 9.5 PPG on .460/.425/.892 shooting in 44 games last season (22.5 MPG).
