Less than three weeks after being waived by the Pacers, Taelon Peter has a new NBA opportunity lined up, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, who reports (via Twitter) that the 2025 second-round pick has agreed to a deal with the Spurs and will attend training camp with the team.

Peter, 24, was the 54th overall pick of the 2025 draft out of Liberty University. He made 38 appearances for Indiana as a rookie, averaging 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 12.9 minutes per game, with a .380/.328/.625 shooting line.

Peter’s two-way contract with the Pacers covered a second season and he played pretty well at the Las Vegas Summer League last month, scoring 10.4 points in 24.3 minutes per game while making 50.0% of his shots from the floor. However, Indiana had a crowded two-way situation and needed to make room to re-sign Jalen Slawson, so Peter found himself as the odd man out and was cut at the end of he team’s run in Vegas.

The Spurs signed a pair of 2026 second-rounders – Maliq Brown and Ja’Kobi Gillespie – to two-way contracts while also bringing back David Jones Garcia on a new two-way deal. So if Peter receives an Exhibit 10 contract, he seems more likely to end up as an affiliate player for the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s G League team, than to have that deal converted to a two-way.

The Spurs currently have four openings on their 21-man offseason roster, so no corresponding move will be necessary to bring Peter aboard.
