SAN ANTONIO – As the San Antonio Spurs advance in the NBA playoffs, a local business is seeing a surge in demand for team-themed treats.
Edna Miggins, co-owner of Panifico Bake Shop, said the bakery’s Spurs pastries have become fan favorites since the team’s recent postseason success.
The shop, located at 602 NW 24th St. near Our Lady of the Lake University, introduced the themed donuts and conchas following the team’s latest victory.
Miggins said the demand has been high, with the specialty items often selling out by 11 a.m. Megan noted that the shop frequently performs multiple restocks throughout the morning to keep up with the rush.
“So people have really been coming in and wiping us out, which is a good thing. I’m very happy,” Miggins said. “But it’s been a very, very successful season with the Spurs, and so we thank that you know that they’ve had a successful season because then we’ve also had a successful season.”
