The Seattle Seahawks need running back help in the worst way. It’ll be at least two weeks until Jadarian Price is eligible to return from injured reserve, while Zach Charbonnet has a chance to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.
Mike Macdonald had no update on Charbonnet’s progress (or, maybe, no update he was willing to share), but it’s worth noting that Charbonnet must be activated this upcoming week or else he reverts to injured reserve for the rest of the season. Seattle opened his 21-day practice window on Oct. 1, prior to the Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Once that window expires, the Seahawks either have to place him on the 53-man roster or end his season. The latter is obviously not happening unless there’s some unbelievably worrying setback, so we’re left to turn our attention to Price.

Mike Macdonald revealed a little bit of a timeline as far as Price’s return during his Friday morning show with Brock and Salk on Seattle Sports 710.
“He’s doing great,” Macdonald said. “We should be looking at a sooner rather than later return after this [Kansas City Chiefs] game.”
Price has been out since the start of Week 4 with a chest injury, which he aggravated in practice after getting the initial injury in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie out of Notre Dame has had a couple of costly fumbles, but since George Holani and Emanuel Wilson have also since lost a combined three fumbles, he’s hardly the only culprit. Price has offered some explosiveness in the run game in a limited sample size, and his speed is what the main running back room lacks.
In an ideal world, Charbonnet is back in Week 7 and Price is back in Week 8, at which point the running back room should be a lot stronger.
