In this week’s Saints reacts poll, we asked our readers which quarterback do they think will win the backup position?
An overwhelming 69% of voters said that it will be 3rd year QB Spencer Rattler.

The 25-year-old who was drafted by the Saints in the 5th round of the 2024 NFL Draft, enters 2026 with a 1-13 record as a starter over the past two year. Last season, Rattler lost the starting job to then rookie 2nd-round pick Tyler Shough halfway through the Saints’ loss to the Buccaneers in Week 8. However, this is Rattler’s second full season under Kellen Moore and with that comes more knowledge and understanding of Moore’s offensive system, which obviously makes him the number one candidate to be the backup quarterback. However, you shouldn’t count out yet what Kellen Moore can do with Zach Wilson, who the Saints signed in free agency. Wilson was the 2nd overall pick in the 2021, who just never found his way with New York Jets and making stops in Denver and Miami the past two seasons. Moore is an offensive genius and a former quarterback himself, so if anyone can help Wilson develop into his full potential, it would be him.
With Saints training camp now into the third day of practice, we are starting to get a better look at the QBs in both team and individual drills, so this is one off the radar battle to be watched.
