Speaking to Forbes contributor Mark Medina, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul said he’s not expecting his star client, LeBron James, to make a decision on his next team in the near future.
“I don’t think this happens anytime soon,” Paul told Medina.
Asked to clarify whether he thought it might be weeks or days, Paul suggested the former was more likely.
“I don’t think it’ll be the next few days,” Paul said.
As we relayed on Friday, Paul provided some insight into some of the factors going into LeBron’s decision in the latest episode of his Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman (Spotify link), breaking out a white board to take a closer look at several of the options the 41-year-old is considering.
Paul broke down how James would fit into the starting lineups for the Sixers, Heat, Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Cavaliers, while also listing five other teams on the periphery of his board: the Warriors, Mavericks, Knicks, Spurs, and Celtics.
Minnesota was encouraged by Paul’s comments and has ramped up its push to land the 22-time All-Star forward, as Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported. New York, San Antonio, Dallas and Boston are considered unlikely landing spots for various reasons.
Still, Paul stressed he’s not sure which team(s) James may be favoring at the end of his podcast, Medina notes.
“I’m on his schedule,” Paul said of James. “I can’t tell the man how fast to move. When he’s telling me what he’s deciding, that’s when I’ll let you guys know.”
