It’s a third-year option that’s been exercised for Murray-Boyles and a fourth-year option for Walter.
Murray-Boyles, 21, enters the 2026-27 season after a strong rookie campaign that saw him earn an All-Rookie second team selection. Last year’s ninth-overall pick averaged 8.5 points, five rebounds, 1.9 assists and 21.9 minutes through 57 regular-season games (22 starts) as a rookie, then upped those numbers to 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.1 blocks and 27.3 minutes in seven playoff appearances.
Walter, 22, saw his role simplify in Year 2, which led to a dip in box-score production, but an increase in efficiency. The 19th-overall pick in 2024 averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, one steal, 20.5 minutes and 61 per cent true shooting through 72 games (19 starts). Walter’s numbers also saw an uptick in the post-season, starting five of seven games in place of an injured Immanuel Quickley, as he averaged 11.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and two steals.
Murray-Boyles and Walter are now two of 10 players on the current 16-player roster that are signed through next season.
The news comes on the eve of Toronto’s season and home opener against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night (Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
