The NBA Draft may have just come and gone, but the Toronto Raptors are already looking ahead to Summer League.
And one of their first signings is a local product, as Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported that the Raptors have added guard Jalen Celstine, an Ajax, Ont. native, to their Summer League roster.
Celestine joins his hometown team after spending his fifth NCAA season with the Cincinnati Bearcats, averaging 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 32 games. The 24-year-old also shot 40.5 per cent from beyond the arc on 5.4 three-point attempts per game.
According to HoopsHype, Celestine worked out with the Raptors leading into the draft, where Toronto took Allen Graves (19th overall) and Jaden Bradley (50th).
Burnett averaged 8.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 37.5 per cetn from beyond the arc as a senior starter through 40 games with the National Champion Wolverines.
As for Bittle, he made 25 appearances for the Oregon Ducks and averaged 16.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 blocks.
Las Vegas Summer League action is set to begin on July 9. Last season, the Raptors went 4-1 during the off-season tournament but lost to the Sacramento Kings in the semifinals.
