Is Aaron Donald coming back to the Los Angeles Rams? Is Aaron Donald not coming back to the Los Angeles Rams? Does anyone know what’s going to happen? I don’t, and I expect another week of speculation, but who knows? Maybe AD makes a decision this week.

It’s big new for the Rams who would seemingly love to have Donald back. Would Donald love to be back? Great question. We’ll see.

In the meantime, enjoy the speculation, enjoy the possibilities. We should have an answer soon enough. Training camp for the Rams starts Saturday so maybe we’ll know by then? Stay tuned.

“On Monday, NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated explained why fans shouldn’t yet assume that Donald will be on the Rams’ active roster in September.

Aaron Donald has been “very happy in retirement”

“Donald was very happy in retirement, and never ruminated to those in the organization that he wanted to come back,” Breer wrote. “In other words, this isn’t a guy who has had some enormous struggle adjusting to civilian life. The 10-time Pro Bowler is a happy retiree, by all accounts, which is to say the idea of going back to that life isn’t something he’ll view as a failure.”

“Verse is a quality run defender. Nobody disputes that. But it becomes difficult to classify any edge rusher as truly elite when he finishes a healthy season with 4.5 sacks. The analytics community will point to pressures, hurries, and how Verse affects the pocket. Those metrics have value. But the NFL is a results-based business, and the most valuable result a pass rusher can deliver is putting the quarterback on the ground.

A sack is an immediate loss of yards. It moves the chains backward. It helps the defense get off the field, which gives the offense more opportunities to score. A pressure or a forced throw can influence an outcome, but a sack guarantees one.”

“However, despite not having a deal in hand, Nacua remains committed to the goals of this season and he hopes to secure a long-term deal for the future. According to NFL reporter Arye Pulli, when questioned about whether he wants to remain in Los Angeles, Nacua recently stated that staying with the Rams is his intent.

“That’s the plan,” Nacua said at Fanatics Fest.”

“While sixth-rounder CJ Daniels will have every chance to claim the WR3 mantle for himself, he is not the default frontrunner that a first-rounder or a Day 2 pick could have been.

As a result, the team will stage a wide-open melee during training camp and into the preseason to determine who, if anyone, is ready to step up as a third option. The outcome will also provide a verdict as to whether selecting quarterback Ty Simpson with the 13th pick, rather than a win-now contributor, was a mistake that will materially hurt LA’s Super Bowl hopes this season.”
