Our Luke Adams gave a brief overview of some of the possible roster crunches around the NBA a few weeks ago in a Offseason Observations story for Trade Rumors Front Office subscribers. Additional moves have been made since then, with some of those same rosters becoming increasingly crowded.
Today we’ll take a closer look at several teams who have more than 15 players on standard contracts and consider how those situations might be resolved. Players on fully guaranteed standard contracts are noted in parentheses.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies currently have the most crowded roster in the NBA. On one hand, there are several players who either look expendable or don’t fit the team’s rebuilding timeline. Veteran big man Taj Gibson is the most obvious candidate to be waived, since he’s 41 years old and on a non-guaranteed contract.
