The Pelicans have signed free agent Jalon Moore, per a team press release.
A 6’7″ forward, Moore spent two seasons at Georgia Tech from 2021-23 and then two years at Oklahoma from 2023-25 before going undrafted last year. As a senior in 2024/25, he averaged 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 30.3 minutes per game across 34 outings (all starts) for the Sooners, posting a solid shooting line of .471/.381/.840.
Moore had been projected as a possible second-round pick in 2025 before he suffered an Achilles tear during a workout with San Antonio, which prompted his agent Mike Silverman to call for changes to how the pre-draft process works.
“We’re truly heartbroken for Jalon,” Silverman told Jonathan Givony in June 2025. “It’s time to revamp the NBA pre-draft process. Flying around the country to perform intense competitive workouts exposes players to risk of major injuries. No other pro sports league puts their draft prospects in this position.”
Although Moore missed all of last season, the Pelicans signed-and-waived him in September 2025 in order to gain his G League rights, with an eye toward keeping him in their system for 2026/27. The 23-year-old’s new agreement is likely an Exhibit 10 contract, which would enable him to earn a bonus worth up to $91K if he’s waived before the season and spends at least 60 days with the Laketown Squadron, New Orleans’ affiliate.
Moore returned to action in July, averaging 6.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 1.3 SPG in three games (19.3 MPG) for the Pelicans’ Summer League team in Las Vegas.
The Pelicans waived big man Christian Koloko in order to sign Moore. Their roster is now back at the preseason limit of 21 players under contract.
