On the night before the Denver Broncos veterans will report for training camp, one tidbit of new information has surfaced. According to 9News insider Mike Klis, the Broncos and left guard Ben Powers have agreed to a restructured contract.

Powers was originally slated to account for nearly $18 million dollars against the salary cap for the 2026 season. However, with the restructure that number is expected to be much lower. While the official particulars have not been released, Klis mentioned there will be a decrease in base salary coupled with an increase in guaranteed money.

The ’26 season is the final year of Powers contract. He originally signed with the franchise during the 2023 free agency period to a four-year deal worth $52 million after spending his first four years with the Baltimore Ravens. Last season, Powers missed a significant portion of the season due to a torn bicep injury suffering in Week 5 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. He made his return in mid-December and battled through the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury—which Klis shined first light on.

In three seasons with the Broncos, Powers has started in 40 games and appeared in 42. In that time, the former Oklahoma Sooners standout has allowed 9 sacks and has been penalized just three times. This training camp, it’s expected that Alex Palczewski could seriously challenge for the starting left guard spot. Palczewski played admirably in place of Powers last season and earned himself a lucrative two-year contract extension earlier this offseason.

According to OverTheCap, the Broncos had $29 million in cap space prior to this move. With a large number of quality players scheduled to hit free agency after the ’26 season and a potential Bo Nix extension on the horizon, it’s expected the Broncos’ brass will rollover a large portion of that toward the 2027 season, where they have just $11 million in space.
