New Browns 2027 NFL mock draft: Which QB did CLE go big for?

The NFL regular season is a few weeks away, and the Cleveland Browns still have one more meaningless preseason game to get out of the way before the initial 53-man roster decisions and Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Given how HC Todd Monken handled the quarterback competition and the performances of the quarterbacks themselves, hopes for the Browns 2026 season are not high.

Many of Cleveland’s decisions this year have pointed to a focus on 2027 anyway. The Browns didn’t bring in any other veteran options at the quarterback position, then traded away DE Myles Garrett for draft picks and DE Jared Verse.

Now, ESPN has graced us with a 2027 NFL mock draft to help Browns fans look ahead to what might be. Jordan Reid has Cleveland trading the fourth and 32nd overall picks, along with a future second- and their ’27 fourth-round pick, to the Miami Dolphins for the first overall selection. While many might assume that trade would be to draft QB Arch Manning, Reid has the Browns taking QB Dante Moore:

Moore has squeaky-clean mechanics, and his accuracy shined in his first year as a starter. This would be a good situation for him, with young players he can grow alongside. If he brings his stellar college play to the NFL, the Browns could turn things around quickly.

Reid has Manning off the board next, with Notre Dame QB CJ Carr going third. For their part, the Dolphins get WR Jeremiah Smith, perhaps the best overall player in next year’s draft, with the fourth overall pick that they acquired from the Browns.

Reid only has three quarterbacks in the first round, which explains Cleveland’s big move up, and has Miami adding DE Will Heldt out of Clemson with the 32nd overall pick acquired in the trade.

Two distinct questions: How do you feel about the trade details (#4, 32, ‘27 4th rounder, and ’28 2nd rounder for #1 overall)? Then, how do you feel about selecting Moore over Manning and Carr with that first overall pick?
