After Sam Amick of The Athletic reported that the Pistons have made Isaiah Stewart available in trade discussions, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line takes that rumor a step further in his latest Substack article, citing league sources who say the 25-year-old big man is “bracing” in anticipation of a move out of Detroit.
The Pistons have made it known they’re looking to make a “significant move” to upgrade their shooting and play-making, Fischer reports, and Stewart is expected to factor into those talks.
According to Fischer, the Bucks, Celtics, Spurs and Heat are among the teams with interest in Stewart, who makes $15MM next season followed by a $15MM team option for 2027/28.
Fischer’s colleague Marc Stein reported that Tyler Herro could potentially be re-routed to the Pistons in a multi-team trade that sends Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Bucks to the Heat. Fischer hears the Bucks and Herro, a Milwaukee native, would have mutual interest, but suggests the team would be willing to flip the 26-year-old guard to accumulate additional assets.
While Stewart certainly appears to be attainable in the right scenario, the Pistons are “determined” to re-sign free agent forward Tobias Harris after his solid playoff performance, according to Fischer.
