Restricted free agent wing Daeqwon Plowden is returning to the Kings on a two-year, $5.1MM contract, sources tell Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link).
After going undrafted in 2022 out of Bowling Green, Plowden began his professional career in the G League, playing two seasons with the affiliate teams of the Pelicans and Magic, respectively.
Plowden signed a two-way contract with the Warriors in the summer of 2024, but was released a couple months later, before the 2024/25 campaign began. He later caught on with the Hawks, originally signing an Exhibit 10 deal and playing for their NBAGL affiliate before being promoted to a two-way deal in December 2024.
The 6’4″ guard/forward was traded to Phoenix in the seven-team mega-deal that sent Kevin Durant to Houston last summer and was quickly waived by the Suns. He signed a two-way contract with the Kings at the end of July 2025.
Plowden only made one NBA appearance with Sacramento in the first few months of ’25/26, but he became a rotation regular down the stretch amid injuries to veteran players. The 27-year-old capitalized on his opportunity, averaging 10.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 32 games (26.4 minutes per contest). He posted a shooting line of .430/.333/.857.
Sacramento tendered Plowden a two-way qualifying offer at the end of June, making him a restricted free agent. Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line subsequently reported that Plowden was expected to be promoted to the standard roster.
Based on the reported terms, Plowden received a minimum-salary contract from the Kings. We’ll have to wait and see how much of it is guaranteed, but Plowden’s years of hard work have paid off, as he landed his first standard NBA contract.
