The Jets will be without DT T’Vondre Sweat for longer than initially thought.
Gang Green is placing Sweat on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in their Week 7 loss to the Dolphins. The team already ruled out Sweat for their Week 8 matchup with the Raiders this Sunday, but they will give the veteran lineman more time to heal up for the final stretch of the regular season. The Jets have a bye in Week 9 before they head into the second half of their schedule.

The Jets are hopeful Sweat can return to the team before the end of the regular season.
Sweat has played in all seven games this season and has registered 17 tackles and two tackles for loss.
New York signed DT Payton Page to the active roster to take Sweat’s place. They are also elevating OL Brand Banks and Edge Quinton Bell from the practice squad.
Bell’s elevation could mean rookie pass rusher David Bailey (groin) will miss Sunday’s game. He was listed as doubtful after not practicing all week.
