Longtime NBA guard Patty Mills has officially signed a one-year deal with ASVEL, the French team announced in a press release.

Mills will be reuniting with Tony Parker, ASVEL’s owner, president, and new head coach. The ex-Spurs guards won a championship together in 2014.

After 16 years in the NBA, including 10 seasons with San Antonio, Mills was unable to find a suitable opportunity in the league last season. The former second-round pick finished out 2025/26 with Tenerife in Spain’s top domestic league (the Liga ACB), averaging 18.6 points on .469/.440/.842 shooting in 11 games (22.1 minutes per contest).

Mills, who turns 38 years old on Tuesday (happy birthday), also has extensive experience with the Australian national team, appearing in five Olympic games and helping the Boomers win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

ASVEL is reportedly cutting its projected budget by more than half, from 59 million to 24 million euros, causing high-profile players like Daniel Theis, Sylvain Francisco and Armoni Brooks to move on to other clubs. However, the EuroLeague team has completed its agreement with Mills, as expected.

• Heat superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo won’t be competing with the Greek national team later this month for a pair of 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying games, writes Mike Gkioulenoglou of Eurohoops.net. According to Gkioulenoglou, Antetokounmpo isn’t playing with Greece this summer because Miami has requested that he travel to the United States early to prepare for his first season with the Heat. The two-time MVP dealt with a litany of injuries last season, which resulted in him playing a career-low 36 games.
• While Great Britain has already been eliminated from the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, the men’s national team will be looking to bounce-back during the August pre-qualifying window for EuroBasket 2029. The British squad will have a couple of noteworthy reinforcements for the games against Switzerland and Slovakia at the end of the month, as Celtics center Amari Williams and former NBA forward Tosan Evbuomwan — who recently signed with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona — will both be making their senior national team debuts, per Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.
• A long list of former NBA players — including Cedi Osman (PAOK BC), Nikola Mirotic (AS Monaco) and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (Aris BC) — are set to compete in the 2026/27 EuroCup season. Dario Skerletic of Sportando shares the current roster of each EuroCup team.
