Giants' Jaxson Dart suffered sprained MCL vs. Rams, expected to face 2-to-4 week absence

The Giants have received some generally positive news on Jaxson Dart.

Sources confirmed to SNY’s Connor Hughes that Dart suffered a sprained MCL during Monday’s loss to the Rams.

Dart, of course, went down in significant pain after being sandwiched between two defenders on a third down pass attempt during the opening drive of the game.

He remained down for several minutes before eventually walking off to the sidelines under his own power alongside the Big Blue training staff.

Dart was said to be pushing to return to the field, but the team elected to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the night after undergoing initial testing.

Those results appear to have shown that the worst-case scenario has been avoided.

According to Hughes, Dart is set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but the Giants are likely looking at around a 2-to-4 week absence for their second-year quarterback.

In his absence, they’ll have to turn to veteran backup Jameis Winston, whom they signed to a two-year extension this offseason but struggled mightily coming on in relief of Dart on Monday.
