At the end of his Bleacher Report live stream (video link) this past week, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line said he isn’t expecting offseason contract extensions for Bucks guard Tyler Herro or Nets forward Michael Porter Jr.

Based on his wording, it’s unclear if Fischer was reporting that extensions aren’t expected for the two players or if it was just informed speculation.

Herro, who was traded from Miami to Milwaukee this summer as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster, recently said he’s “not really worried” about a potential extension. The 2025 All-Star will earn $33MM in 2026/27 ahead of free agency next summer.

Porter, meanwhile, is also in the final year of his contract, which will pay him $40.8MM this season. Like Herro, Porter will be an unrestricted free agent in 2027 if he doesn’t sign an extension before then.

It’s worth noting that both players will remain extension-eligible throughout the 2026/27 league year. That means an extension could still be reached as late as June 30, 2027.

However, players on sizeable expiring contracts are often involved in trade rumors leading up to the February deadline. That could be the case again in a handful of months for Herro and Porter after they were prominently involved in trade chatter ahead of the last in-season deadline.
