Reaching up for the ball, Quentin Halys brought the thunder to piece the title promised land.

Fulfilling a career-long quest, Halys hammered 17 aces and did not face a break point dethroning defending champion Alexander Bublik 6-4, 7-6(6) to capture his maiden ATP championship on the red clay of Kitzbühel in today’s Generali Open final.

Facing one of the game’s biggest servers, Halys did not blink turning the red clay into Boom Town for his service blasts.

The 29-year-old Frenchman was nearly untouchable on serve. Halys won 33 of 38 first-serve points, including winning 20 of 22 first-serve points in a tight second-set test.

Halys said his 15-year journey to ATP title land evoked deep emotions, particularly gratitude for the sacrifices his family made for his pursuit of tennis.

“It’s tough not to think about my family, because since I was a kid the goal was to win an ATP title and today the dream came true,” Halys said. “So thanks to my parents, my grandparents and everybody who made this possible.”

The top-seeded Bublik, who saw his seven-match Kitzbühel winning streak snapped, poured celebratory champagne over the Frenchman’s head to commemorate Halys’ milestone title breakthrough.
