Suneil Anand, the son of legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand and actress Kalpana Kartik, has passed away at the age of 70 after reportedly suffering a heart attack in London. His family confirmed the news through a statement issued by his niece, Gina Narang, who requested privacy as they mourn the loss.
According to reports, Suneil Anand died at the same London hospital where his father, Dev Anand, was pronounced dead in December 2011 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a visit to the UK for a medical check-up.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Suneil Anand made his acting debut in Anand Aur Anand (1984), a film directed by his father. Although the film did not succeed at the box office and his acting career remained limited, Suneil continued to stay associated with the family’s iconic Navketan Films banner as a filmmaker and custodian of Dev Anand’s cinematic legacy.
Over the years, Suneil often spoke about his father’s enduring influence, describing Dev Anand as a humble, well-read and stylish personality whose work continues to inspire generations of cinema lovers. He remained committed to preserving and carrying forward the legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated stars.
The family has not yet announced details of Suneil Anand’s last rites. His demise marks the end of another chapter in the Anand family’s contribution to Indian cinema, with tributes pouring in from fans and members of the film fraternity.
